Fund raising campaign "Kabul Kids Box“

Goal achieved – generosity was high

The Christmas fund raising campaign „Kabul Kids Box“ in 2007, which was created by several employees of company GEDA, has already been a big success and a donation of 357,-- EURO war collected from the GEDA staff and were given to the Georg Dechentreiter Welfare Society.

This charitable foundation was founded by the GEDA founder’s son Georg Dechentreiter and supports mainly the Irene Salimi children’s hospital for orthopaedics and surgery in Kabul, Afghanistan. His son Gerolf lives together with his wife in Kabul and they manage the hospital. They were able to help 600 children in 2008 alone. Every year doctors come voluntarily for several weeks or months to work in the hospital. The whole project depends completely on donations. Therefore, the GEDA trainees have set the goal to beat the result of the previous year. They came up with the idea of selling homemade cakes every Monday in December to the employees. Moreover, the trainees begged money going from department to department. Especially the managers were very generous, but also all other colleagues were pleased to support their fund raising campaign.

At the end the fantastic sum of 1026,-- EURO were collected! That was way more than expected. As Mr Gerolf Dechentreiter is in Germany at the moment to organise the next container with relief supplies, the happy GEDA people were able to give them their donation personally. He was very pleased about so much commitment. Moreover, the managing director Mr Johann Sailer gave over the yearly donation of the company GEDA itself (2,000,-- Euro). Dechentreiter emphasized again how much the childern, hospital staff and all the volunteers were happy about the donation and he thanked everybody for that great support.

The next fund raising campaign at GEDA is already being planned. This time children clothes and toys are collected. Every help counts in order to give the little patients, living in such an instable country, a little hope.
