GEDA at bauma 2022

German construction and industrial hoist manufacturer GEDA GmbH presented itself at the world leading trade fair in Munich with the tagline “FEEL THE REALITY – virtual.digital.original”.

When the Munich trade fair grounds turn into the centre of the construction machinery industry for seven days, then it is finally bauma time again. Around 3,200 exhibitors from 60 countries and more than 495,000 visitors from over 200 countries travelled to Munich for the world leading trade fair for construction machinery, construction materials machinery, mining machinery, construction vehicles and construction equipment from 24 to 30 October 2022. Around 50 per cent of the visitors came from abroad.

GEDA as a “veteran” of the trade fair

Of course GEDA GmbH from Asbach-Bäumenheim was among the exhibitors. The medium sized company has been exhibiting at this trade fair for almost 60 years and is therefore one of the “veterans” at the event. As in previous years, all new products and innovations were presented at an outdoor stand, with the tagline “FEEL THE REALITY – virtual.digital.original”. The hoist solutions, which have proven successful for many decades, as well as a number of new products attracted countless customers, partners and other interested visitors. In line with this year’s tagline, a special GEDA VR world had been created and was additionally presented exclusively at bauma 2022. In an exciting trip around the world, visitors were able to test and marvel at GEDA products in a variety of locations. Many of the hoists exhibited were operational and transported visitors to dizzy heights far above the GEDA stand and the vast trade fair site.

bauma takes place every three years and the 2022 exhibition was the 33rd event. It is the most important item on the GEDA trade fair calendar. Preparations had been under way for months. Johann Sailer, Managing Partner of GEDA, gives a positive summary of the event: “I had already been sure beforehand that trade fairs such as bauma will continue to exist in the future and I was optimistic. For GEDA, bauma is a platform for presenting new ideas and for meeting and acquiring customers from all over the world, who are otherwise hard to reach. On a global level, this is the most important trade fair for us. This bauma was one of the most successful events with high quality discussions and a great order intake.”

bauma career event: GEDA and THINK BIG!

Once again in 2022, the German Mechanical Industry Association (VDMA) staged the successful schools and student event “THINK BIG!” in collaboration with the Munich Trade Fair organisers. The unique programme offers young people a comprehensive experience with exciting opportunities to join in and the opportunity to experience technical professions first hand. The aim of the initiative is to inspire young people for technology and the construction machinery and building material machinery industries. As one of the exclusive “THINK BIG!” partner companies, GEDA participated in the programme with various activities. Visitors were be able to learn more about the different mechanical engineering professions and try their hand at various activities at the information and participation stands. At “Werkstatt live” (workshop live), work was carried out on a GEDA transport platform every hour on the hour with the presenter team. At the GEDA stand, the students were able to compete on a pinball machine manufactured by the GEDA apprentices. A hoist model was used to demonstrate how to program a controller, allowing the young people to discover and understand logical connections on a touch display and then have a go themselves. In addition to all this, the brand new GEDA apprenticeship design was presented, which gives GEDA a completely new and modern appearance.

GEDA training experts were also available throughout the trade fair alongside the apprentices and students to answer questions about apprenticeships, university courses and internships.

The GEDA team welcomed three influencers this year. With around 150,000 followers in total, their accounts on Instagram are just as remarkable as the fact that all three work in traditional craft professions. They loved the training and study program offered by the medium-sized company and were also able to put their skills to the test on the GEDA pinball machine.

The GEDA partner schools from the region also visited “THINK BIG!” during the bauma week. Three secondary schools (Staatliche Realschule Rain, Realschule Heilig Kreuz Donauwörth and Ludwig-Auer-Schule Donauwörth) had been invited to Munich and visited GEDA at bauma as well as THINK BIG!

All expectations fulfilled

bauma 2022 was a great success, not only for the medium-sized company from Bavaria. In summary it can be said that the world’s largest trade fair showed the usual strength, despite the unsettled times we find ourselves in. GEDA also presented itself at its full strength this year, steadfast despite the uncertainties brought about by the pandemic. By participating in the event, the company wanted to send a signal, but was certainly taking a risk as well. No one was able to say beforehand how the trade fair would develop in these rather difficult times. While the numbers of exhibitors, visitors and represented countries were a little lower, the success of the overall event was not diminished. There were plenty of interesting discussions, new contacts and sales.
