GEDA at bauma – the world's biggest construction machinery trade fair
Exhibition size expanded to 552 m² in Munich to showcase company exhibits

With an exhibition floor area of 570,000 m², 3,420 exhibitors from 57 countries, 530,000 visitors from over 20 countries and huge machines as far as the eye can see, bauma in Munich is unambiguously the trade fair of superlatives and once again in 2013 beat all records. Manufacturers and service providers presented their latest innovations in construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines, construction vehicles and construction equipment. This is where the Who's Who of the construction machinery sector converged between 15 and 21 April.
And of course GEDA-Dechentreiter was also represented. The construction hoist specialist from Asbach-Bäumenheim exhibited at bauma, as in previous years, on an open air stand.
Showcased on the stand were both GEDA's long-proven hoist solutions and many new innovations announced at the trade fair. Many of the hoist exhibited were operational and transported visitors to dizzy heights far above the GEDA stand and over the huge trade fair site.
bauma takes place every three years and the 2013 show was the 30th. It is the most important event in GEDA's trade fair calendar and preparations had been underway for months. GEDA managing director Johann Sailer sums up the show in very positive terms: "bauma has been our most important platform for years for exchanging experiences and for business transactions with our partners from across the world. This is where we set the course for our business in the years ahead. We are delighted with the results from the trade fair and will of course be exhibiting here again in 2016."
In his capacity as VDMA (German Engineering Federation) Chairman of the Construction Equipment and Building Material Machinery Association and as President of the Committee for European Construction Equipment (CECE), on Sunday evening Johann Sailer, together with German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle, opened the trade show spectacular of the year.
GEDA and THINK BIG! – a complete success
The German Engineering Federation (VDMA) also staged an outstanding schools event in conjunction with the Munich Trade Fair organisers. The "Think Big!" programme in Hall B0 offered young people from school years 8 - 12 a comprehensive experience, the aim of which was to inspire young people by technology and the construction machinery and building material machinery industries.
Therefore an entire exhibition hall was dedicated to training, degree courses, careers and professions, advice and tips, as well as contacts with potential employers.
As one of the exclusive "Think Big!" partner companies GEDA participated in the programme with various stands. Anybody interested in the different machine construction professions could find out more at the information stand. It was also possible to try a few things out and experience machine technology in close-up at the GEDA "Think Big!" and Join-In stand. Here the school pupils had the opportunity to build their own GEDA mini-format Unimast and in the "Workshops and Machine Power live" area, a GEDA Transport Platform was "screwed together" live.
More than 9,000 school pupils from more than 175 schools registered for the event and many also from the Donau Ries area.

Coveted Exhibition Space
bauma 2013 was completely sold out almost eleven months before opening its doors. A waiting list operated in all areas despite the fact that the exhibition space had been expanded to the record size of 570,000 square metres, the equivalent of almost 80 football pitches. An entire 552 m² of this was available to GEDA.
This gave GEDA a successful start to the spring trade show and from the very first day the company welcomed VIP guests to the stand. As part of his official trade fair tour, the German Minister of Transport, Dr. Peter Ramsauer was a guest on the GEDA stand. The minister was visibly impressed and wished the GEDA team a successful bauma 2013. Friday saw the next high-profile stand visit with MEP Markus Ferber who praised the European construction machinery for its advances which companies are continuing to achieve despite the many challenges facing them.
The next bauma will take place from 11 to 17 April 2016 in Munich. After this year's success GEDA is already looking forward to being in Munich again.
