In addition to construction hoists and transport platforms, GEDA has been developing and producing building maintenance units for permanent use for many years. These lifts are installed for example for cleaning or maintenance work on multi-storey buildings. This product range is developed and produced independently in the company's subsidiary in Gera.
Due to the increasing demand for building maintenance units GEDA decided to establish a company in Turkey. Trading under the company name GEDA MAJOR the Turkish subsidiary will now be responsible for servicing the markets around the Bosporus. In future, components for building maintenance units targeted specifically at local market requirements will also be produced in Turkey as well as at the Gera production site.
In the words of GEDA managing director Johann Sailer "the establishment of GEDA MAJOR in Istanbul will ensure that we are now very well placed to further improve our customer service and support in this region. People can now contact our local experts directly, we can travel to customer sites very quickly and provide targeted responses to market requirements." The aim is also to provide better support to existing partnerships and to create new networks. The proximity to Russia was also crucial in the selection of the new site. The pulsating metropolis of Istanbul is therefore an ideal springboard for this.
The Turkish subsidiary is run by Orhan Demirel. The engineer has worked in the construction sector at the company MAJOR for 21 years and provides professional customer support covering consultancy, sales and service. Since 1996 Orhan Demirel has focused on the building maintenance unit sector. The establishment of GEDA MAJOR has brought together all the competencies in and around Turkey under one roof and in future the product range of the Turkish subsidiary will also include lifts as well as building maintenance units.
GEDA continues to move along an upward curve. Over the last few decades the company has developed from a niche product manufacturer into a global player. GEDA products are now sold in 80 countries across the world through its international sales and distribution channels. In addition to the company's head office in Asbach-Bäumenheim and two other subsidiaries in Germany, the sites in the USA and Russia also contribute to GEDA's global service delivery.
With the establishment of GEDA MAJOR, the company has passed another milestone in its company history and is continuing its philosophy of global service delivery.
