GEDA packs its suitcase...

The GEDA Multilift P22 sets off on a Scandinavian tour

Three years after its market introduction at bauma 2013, the youngest member of the GEDA Multilift family has successfully established itself in the market, with demand for the GEDA Multilift P22 being particularly high in Scandinavia. The Bavarian company from Asbach-Bäumenheim has already packed up numerous devices for their journeys to Scandinavian building sites in Denmark Sweden and Finland. This luggage comes with many benefits which equip the devices specifically for the challenges they face in the far north.

First stop: Copenhagen Kastrup Airport

On arrival at Copenhagen Airport the welcome committee consists of two GEDA Multilift P22 personnel and material lifts.
Kastrup Airport is located eight kilometres to the south of the Danish capital, and with annual passenger numbers exceeding 21.5 million, is the biggest airport in southern Scandinavia. Its total area covers 11.8 km² and is divided into five areas – north, south, east, west and an apron. The three passenger terminals, currently undergoing extensive renovation and expansion work, are located at the north of Copenhagen Kastrup Airport. In order to ensure the smooth and efficient transportation on the building site of both people and materials, the construction company responsible made the decision to install two personnel and material lifts from the Bavarian manufacturer GEDA-Dechentreiter GmbH & Co. KG.
GEDA’s long-standing partner, the rental company Hejs.dk AS, provided the two GEDA Multilift P22 devices for the renovation and expansion works at the airport. Hejs.dk AS has developed a good reputation in Denmark over the years and now provides many building sites with the equipment they need.

GEDA Multilift P22 Comfort – all the benefits in one travel bag

The GEDA Multilift P22 has everything in its travel bag that a construction hoist needs for a journey to Scandinavia.
Launched at bauma 2007 the GEDA Multilift Series now comprises four devices and has numerous successful building site deployments across the world to its name. The new GEDA Multilift P22 benefited in its development phase from the already proven know-how of the range. For example the complete, pre-installed base unit is delivered as one unit – with perfect dimensions for container loading and for HGV transportation. Long assembly times are now a thing of the past, as work to assemble the device can start on-site immediately from the walk-on roof.

The patented flat cable system ensures the fast and safe transportation of 2,000 kg or 22 people by the GEDA Multilift P22 up to a height of 200 metres. Designed as a space-saving device, the cable carriage provides a convenient access height of only 450 mm.
Now being used more and more is the assembly car which is a light aluminium car hooked onto the guard rail next to the mast designed to make assembly of the lift easier.
The GEDA Multilift P22 can also be equipped with an optional diagnostic system with a display screen which displays a precise error image and error message text in the relevant national language in the event of a fault, thereby consigning those time-consuming searches for the cause to the past.
With its constant eye on the market, GEDA decided to develop an additional single-mast construction hoist for the GEDA Multilift P22. Therefore, the GEDA VARIO-MAST is being used and its advantages can be exploited by both the GEDA Multilift P12 and the GEDA ERA 1200 Z/ZP transport platform. This is a genuine and specific benefit for rental equipment operators using the GEDA range because it saves both space and storage costs. One particular feature is that the GEDA VARIO-MAST enables a free mast projection of 7.5 metres enabling two further complete stories to be accessed. Furthermore, the mast tie distance can be increased to 12 metres.
All personnel and material lifts and transport platforms are equipped as standard with automatic lubrication equipment which ensures considerably less wear on the toothed rack and pinion.
It goes without saying that the GEDA Multilift P22 complies with the European Machinery Directive and Product Standard EN12159.

Royal appearance in Copenhagen

The first sightseeing stop is in Copenhagen city centre. The Royal Theatre has been gracing Kongens Nytorv Square in the heart of the Danish capital since 1748.
Over the last decade the Danish National Theatre has lived through the biggest change in its history dating over back 250 years. Until recently audiences could enjoy ballet, theatre and opera performances in the Royal Theatre at Kongens Nytorv in Copenhagen. Now with the new opera house by the harbour and the nearby playhouse completed in 2008, two completely new venues are now available which has enabled the Royal Theatre to present the full bandwidth of its abilities appropriately.
However, the ravages of time have gnawed into the venerable building structure of the National Theatre on Kongens Nytorv Square and extensive refurbishment works became essential. The roof had suffered considerably over the last few years and is far from meeting today’s energy standards. Therefore, one of the renovation tasks has been to replace a roof surface of about 2,000 m² on the theatre and on the adjacent administration building.
To ensure that the National Theatre will soon be gleaming again in its new splendour, a GEDA Multilift P22 has made a royal appearance on the historic building and has proved its worth through its efficient transportation of people and materials. For even more safety the two stop positions have been fitted with GEDA “Comfort” landing level safety gates.

Finer living with GEDA

Our journey now continues to neighbouring Sweden. Soaring upwards, the “Lipstick”, the landmark of Gothenburg, is visible from far and wide. With the help of a GEDA Multilift P12, the extravagant building was extensively renovated in 2014. Its “big brother”, the GEDA Multilift P22, is now also being used in Gothenburg proving that the GEDA compact power pack can be deployed on public and historic buildings as well as for housebuilding.
An apartment complex is under construction in Gothenburg which will be completed in two construction phases. GEDA’s partner, rental equipment operator Ramirent AB Sweden, rented a GEDA Multilift P22 to the construction company responsible, Calles Bygg.
To ensure the process ran smoothly once the first construction phase was completed, the device was immediately installed on the second building. The GEDA height access specialists adapted the GEDA Multilift P22 to meet the specific on-site requirements. For example, the device installed here has both intelligent call control and C-doors over 2.9 metres wide with an integrated rack ensuring doors open and close smoothly.
The assembly height of the GEDA Multilift P22 is currently 24 metres. The safety at the landing entry and exit points is ensured by four GEDA “Comfort” landing level safety gates.

Active collaboration with customers is the prime focus

GEDA has been responding to worldwide customer needs for more than eight decades. In this regard the company not only sees itself as a manufacturer and supplier but primarily as a reliable partner on the side of the customer, and always with the aim of developing new concepts for individual height access solutions.
The GEDA Multilift P22 is the ideal solution for the challenges of the Scandinavian market. The close collaboration with local partners gives rise to an optimistic future outlook. One example of this is our long-standing rental partner, Hejs.dk AS, who has already ordered ten GEDA Multilift P22 devices from us in 2016 with more in the planning stage. And also in Finland all the signs are pointing towards GEDA Multilift. The first orders for its use on a wide range of building sites and for rental stock have now been processed.
This means that many more GEDA Multilift P22 devices will soon be making their own journeys to Scandinavia.
