Munich landmark is being renovated
The Munich Church of Our Lady (Frauenkirche) has been hidden behind scaffolding for ages. The reason for this is the long-planned renovation of the façade, which has been badly damaged due to encroaching damp, particularly on the windward side. The renovation was originally planned for 2007, but was delayed due to the city's 850-year anniversary celebrations. According to data from the building authority, the renovation is costing around 500,000 euros a year. In the future we would like to continuously monitor the building within the scope of a building maintenance program, in order to be able to repair any damage more quickly or even prevent it in the first place.

The renovation work currently being carried out on the north tower, which is completely covered by scaffolding, is aided by a passenger and material hoist manufactured by GEDA. Passengers are transported safely and reliably by a GEDA Multilift P18 Comfort. The Bavarian construction hoist manufacturer received the order via its dealer BNS in Chemnitz, who works closely with the Munich scaffolder SGM. The hoist from the new Multilift range (first introduced at Bauma 2007) has now been delivered directly to the City of Munich. The estimated service life of the GEDA Multilift P18 is three years. Its assembly height is 90 m, and a total of 23 stop positions ensure good accessibility to the various levels.
The hoist's integrated level pre-selection control system with digital display is particularly simple and practical to use. Consequently, each level can be reached with the simple push of a button, just as with a home lift. The inbuilt frequency control means that there is no jerky start-up or braking. This control system facilitates smooth start-up and braking due to its lower starting current and low wear and tear for brakes, track rollers, etc.! Of course, safety devices such as the speed-dependent GEDA overspeed safety brake and overload protection or the limit switches on the top and bottom levels are all standard equipment. The new flat, space-saving GEDA cable bin has been integrated into the base enclosure and cannot even be noticed at first glance.
GEDA naturally also provides suitable landing gates. For the Multilift range, there is a choice of two different landing gates. The completely closed landing gate (double-leaf revolving doors), which is electro-mechanically locked, enables travel without any separation distance from the building. This gate can only be opened when the hoist is standing at the respective level. The second version is lower, and is mechanically locked and electrically monitored, i.e. the unit will not stop or start up if this is not correctly locked. These variants were decided on in Munich based on national regulations.

The flexible mid-range Multilift found its niche in the market, and this hoist range complies with market requirements and customer demands. Consumers are particularly delighted with the Multilift P12, which is authorised to transport twelve persons up to a lifting height of 150 m. The Multilift P12 has the advantage of being particularly suitable for work in urban areas and for restricted workspaces. In contrast to larger passenger hoists, the Multilift only requires a few square meters of floor space, and complies with the prevailing safety regulations thanks to its optional completely closed base enclosure. Of course rental fleets or GEDA retailers are already well versed in the GEDA module design principle and can continue to use the mast elements and landing gates that they already have. The Scandinavian and Eastern European market in particular has been waiting for such a device. But the device is also already being used in the Middle East and Australia.
Depending on your requirements, you can now select from 9 different standard types of transport platforms and passenger and material hoists. Numerous car and platform sizes are available via the modular system. With load capacities of up to 2,000 kg, up to 18 persons can be safely transported at a lifting speed of up to 40 m/min.
Customers particularly appreciate the practical installation and disassembly, facilitated by the integrated roof hatch and the assembly protective flap in the interior of the hoist. Thus the device can be assembled or dismantled conveniently from the platform. Quickly and above all, safely.
