GEDA hoist solutions for harbour cranes

International container ports repeatedly overcome mammoth logistical tasks every single day: 752.2 million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units; source: unctad.org/en/PublicationsLibrary/rmt2018_en.pdf, page 11) were handled in 2017 alone. Most of the merchandise and goods shipped worldwide pass through these terminals on their way to local trading outlets.

In order to meet these huge challenges, the sector regularly sets new benchmarks, including with the world’s greatest container ship “MSC Gulsun” which has a capacity of 23,756 TEU.

Such figures require a high degree of productivity along with the guarantee of smooth, efficient work processes.

And therefore the requirement for safe and reliable transport options for crane operators in the harbour and shipbuilding industry is constantly increasing, not least due to the increased responsibility of crane operators and maintenance technicians. GEDA offers rack and pinion hoists for industrial use. Specifically designed for the tough environmental conditions in container ports, the GEDA SH range of hoist solutions offers an efficient solution for the smarter design of work processes and for transporting crane operating staff securely to their place of work at lofty heights up to 60 metres.

GEDA SH hoist solutions are used both on container handling cranes, or so-called ship-to-shore cranes (STS-cranes), on ship unloaders, mobile gantry cranes (MGC), rail-mounted gantry cranes (RMG Cranes) and industrial cranes through to dry docks and wharfs in harbour terminals across the world.

GEDA products also comply with general industrial specifications and can also be certified in accordance with ANSI A17.1 and EN-81.

A reliable partner to its customers

Close trust and cooperation creates the basis for joint success in the project business. Therefore GEDA has a comprehensive support approach and not only sees itself as a supplier but also as a constantly reliable partner to its customers. Both development and project management, sales and the service department are located centrally at the GEDA head office in Asbach-Bäumenheim, with everything being supplied from a single source from the initial enquiry right up to the comprehensive after-sales package with a maintenance and servicing contract. This also makes it easier for the customer to design the troubleshooting support for its hoist system via the GEDA remote service system more easily and more efficiently.

This integrated project support approach also enables complex customised projects to be achieved.
