GEDA industrial hoists installed in LNG in Chile - and survived an earthquake undamaged
Globalisation now affects all areas of life and work; global collaboration is the standard today. But why and how did industrial hoists from a medium-sized Bavarian company end up at a Chilean gas tank?
International project work in the energy and raw materials industry makes this possible. The established Chilean company consortium GNL Quintero commissioned market leader CB&I (head office in Chicago, USA) with planning and implementing the construction of two LNG tanks for the LNG Import Terminal in Quintero Bay, Chile. A 500 kg industrial hoist was included in the plans as a means to complete servicing and maintenance work quickly and securely. CB&I was professionally supported in the offer phase already by Bavarian-based manufacturer GEDA-Dechentreiter GmbH & Co.KG. The customer was presented with all the relevant documentation in advance in order to gain a detailed impression of the GEDA system. They were then able to plan the necessary project steps right at the start in order to avoid any glitches.
CB&I has high demands of its suppliers. On the one hand the product is top priority and must meet the project requirements, such as working in tricky environments like a gas tank, and on the other hand the company has certain requirements to meet as well. To qualify as a supplier you need more than a good price/performance ratio.
Comprehensive support
GEDA offers comprehensive project support: from the initial enquiry up to the servicing and maintenance contract - everything comes from one source. Working in a team that carries technical, economical and deadline responsibility means you can complete even complex projects; GEDA and its products are supported by a professional team. GEDA was already certified according to DIN ISO 9001 in 1999 and is subject to continuous monitoring and developments.
In response to customer wishes, and while taking into consideration national and international regulations, two industrial hoists, type GEDA SH500, were supplied to the LNG Import Terminal in Chile. Due to its proximity to the coastline a special coating was used and both hoists meet regulations for working in explosion proof areas Zone 1, IIB T3. The lifting height is 50 m and hoisting speed is 24 m/min. The space-saving, mast-guided SH500 is quick and easy to assemble. No engine room is required as the powerful drive motors are located on the roof of the car. The emergency release which is integrated inside the car ensures safe return to the ground station in the event of a loss of power.
